During the installation procedure, Ubuntu has an option to automatically login upon boot-up.

Regardless, you can set your Ubuntu distribution to automatically login (although the procedure is well hidden - i.e. not "intuitive")...

Steps to Change to Automatic Login:

# Click '''SYSTEM -> ADMINISTRATION -> Login Window'''
# When prompted, enter your password (assuming you have administration privileges).
# The "'''Login Window Preferences'''" dialog box will appear.
# Click on the "'''Security'''" tab.
# Click to select first check-box beside "'''Enable Automatic Login'''"
# Click the list box to display and '''select the default user account''' to automatically login.
# Click the CLOSE button.

The next time you boot (or reboot) your system, it will automatically login in the the default user account specified....
