Automatic Login upon Boot-up
During the installation procedure, Ubuntu has an option to automatically login upon boot-up.
Regardless, you can set your Ubuntu distribution to automatically login (although the procedure is well hidden - i.e. not "intuitive")...
Steps to Change to Automatic Login:
- Click SYSTEM -> ADMINISTRATION -> Login Window
- When prompted, enter your password (assuming you have administration privileges).
- The "Login Window Preferences" dialog box will appear.
- Click on the "Security" tab.
- Click to select first check-box beside "Enable Automatic Login"
- Click the list box to display and select the default user account to automatically login.
- Click the CLOSE button.
The next time you boot (or reboot) your system, it will automatically login in the the default user account specified....
