This page will serve as a table of contents for the Seneca-CD CDOT research project.
= People =
* Diogo Monteiro and Kieran Sedgwick, supervised by Andrew Smith.
= Blog =
* http://senecacd.wordpress.com/
* TODO-Andrew: set up a backup in case wordpress.com is not 100% reliable
= Bug Tracker =
* Waiting to hear back from Jordan about a stable Trac setup
= Plan for 2 weeks starting the 29th of October =
== Everyone ==
* Paperwork
== Researchers ==
* Verify that the two desktops we start with are working and capable of supporting virtualization.
* Verify two of the network sockets work, and what the IP/subnet/DNS numbers to use are.
* Get setup on the project blog, start posting on it.
* Download and set up the latest CentOS, confirm kvm/libvirt/virt-manager work.
* Figure out what OpenNebula is capable of, how hard it is to set up, perhaps go through one setup.
* Read about iSCSI, check out OpenFiler, hopefully set it up, at least as a test if we don't yet have a dedicated box for the storage.
== Andrew ==
* Get at least two more boxes (better 3).
* Get a KVM switch supporting at least two inputs (3 or 4 even better).
* Figure out the workspace network settings.
* Figure out whether a gigabit switch is necessary to support running VMs with the disk on another machine and figure out what it would cost.
* Obtain 8-port switch and 8 cables.
* Obtain a port-forwarding-capable NAT router.
* Arrange a visit to CloudDynamics for a tech demo.
* Discuss the idea of weekly short conference calls to make sure we're on the right track.
* Meet with David G. about project plan.
* Talk to Jordan / Chris T. about Trac on monday or tuesday.
