Project Started: Saturday August 7, 2010

Project Completed: Saturday October 2, 2010 @ 5:49 pm

Status: Finished

Description of Task:
Mainly sanding. Usually takes 2 to 2.5 hours for a first sanding 2 parts of a complete door system consisting of 6 panels with 50-grit sandpaper. Second sanding takes longer, especially to work on bottom of doors which have become weathered since varnish is old and peeled... A stir-stick with 50-grit sandpaper worked well to sand the grooves between the door panels...

Volunteer(s): Murray Saul

Skill Set (for future consideration): Have sheet sander, able to sand...

Notes:
Murray wanted to improve look of church entrance (which also included painting trim, and painting hand-rails). He asked and got permission from property facilitator to start work. So far he has averaged work on doors Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 11:15 am and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Murray started in summer due to good weather, but is returning from summer vacation to work in September. Volunteers no longer required! Project is finished!

Additional Notes:

Church doors will have a lighter appearance to foster newer, more welcoming appearance... In addition to door refinishing, door and stain glass window trim painted, iron railing painted, and rust stains to be removed... Church doors look better "in person" as opposed to picture displayed (due to use of flash)...
