As far as operating systems are concerned, I will use whatever works: usually this means Linux, MacOS, or BSD. This preference, however, is hardly religious: operating systems are ultimately just tools and what's really important is whether the solution works. Not to mention, it's always fun to check out some quirky, obscure operating system in search of interesting new ideas.
As far as programming goes, my skills lie mostly with the [http://www.perl.org Perl] language, although recently I've been spending a lot of time working on learning Scheme and Common Lisp. I first began programming with [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSX_BASIC MSX-BASIC] on an old [http://www.rgp.nl/cx5m/ Yamaha CX5M ] with a Z80 processor. Since then, I've mostly continued by tinkering in my spare time, and have dabbled in languages including C, C++, Pascal, Csound, TI Basic, VisualBasic, MSX BASIC and Turing.
