Grabbing Workstation Material for Off-Site Printing and Storage

Purpose

The following sequence of steps, outlines how to transfer (or "grab") work from all Computer Lab workstations to the "Teacher" account unto a USB stick for off-site printing and storage.

This computer program was custom-created for the Westminster Computer Lab to make it easier for volunteer instructors to quickly obtain student work...

Procedures for Starting-up Computer Server

  1. Check lab for damage problems. Report any problems to AVIT (see below for a link to the on-line Computer Lab Service Form or use the hard copy form located in the Lab, and submit ).
  2. Locate the Lab Server (located inside the cupboard).
  3. Turn on the Server (Big Button).
  4. Power on the Red Button located on the Power-bar (below the server cupboard).
  5. Locate the Data Display Unit (also referred to as the projector).
  6. Press button at top of data display unit to power-on (Wait until amber light stops flashing, Green indicates that project bulb is on).
  7. Get wireless keyboard. This wireless keyboard is located on top of the server's CPU in the server cupboard.
  8. Power-on the wireless keyboard. Allow a few seconds until you can use the keyboard and touch-pad.

  9. Log into the teacher account.

NOTE: You need to take an AVIT Computer Lab Training Session prior to using the Teacher account. Upon completing the AVIT training session, you will be provided a password (along with a “Lab Manual”) for the Teacher account. You are NOT allowed to share this Teacher account password (or "Lab Manual) with any other individual.
