The Mozilla project is a global community of people who believe that openness, innovation, and opportunity are key to the continued health of the Internet. Mozilla is best known for creating the Firefox web browser and the Thunderbird e-mail client. The Mozilla Manifesto explains the goals of the project.

Seneca students and students from a number of other educational institutions worldwide are working alongside Seneca professor David Humphrey, Mozilla's educational liaison, on Mozilla projects. This work is centered in the OSD600, DPS909, OSD700, DPS911, and Real World Mozilla courses. David is also one of the key people behind education.mozilla.org (edmo), Mozilla's global Open Source and Open Web education initiative.

The Mozilla Foundation has provided grant funding during the 2007-2008 through 2009-2010 academic years to support student participation in the Mozilla community.
