Installing FreeBSD 7 as a VM Guest on Fedora 8
- Boot up Fedora 8 Test in lab T2107
- Use Firefox to authenticate yourself
- Perform the following
- yum update
- yum install libvirt virt-manager
- After the installs, start libvirtd
- service libvirtd start
- Use fdisk to make only one partition on /dev/sdb and mark its type to freebsd
- Insert freebsd 7 install CD (provided by your teacher)
- From the Applications/System Tools menu start virt manager
- Install FreeBSD 7
- use all of /dev/sdb1
- setup user clown with password seneca99
- set root password to seneca99
- enable networking with dhcp
- enable ssh server
- install X window system
- Test FreeBSD 7
- ssh from host to guest
- startx - and see what window manager comes up
- run sysinstall and install more software
- Finally, write a blog about your experience and send an email to your teacher when done
