Today was my first day of [http://zenit.senecac.on.ca/wiki/index.php/OSD600 OSD600]. I am excited about this course because it will provide the opportunity for me to apply the programming skills that I have learned and to develop in other interesting areas such as Java Script within an open source environment.

I just thought this information would be useful when using IRC especially when setting it up for the first.

Clients to connect to a network:

Chatzila (Firefox extension)
Xchat
Irssi

IRC Networks:

Freenode (Used by Fedora, Open Office, X.org, etc)
Moznet (Mozilla)
The Open and Fee Technology Community (Used by Gcc, django, etc)


To Join a Channel: /join #ChannelName

Some commands:

/nick NewNickname
/topic
/names
/query Nickname (open a private channel the person)
/leave

Today was my first day of OSD600. I am excited about this course because it will provide the opportunity for me to apply the programming skills that I have learned and to develop in other interesting areas such as Java Script within an open source environment.
