To Keep SELinux running but ask it not to enforce the Security Policy, do the following:
[root@localhost ~]# setenforce 0
[root@localhost ~]# sestatus
SELinux status: enabled
SELinuxfs mount: /selinux
Current mode: permissive
Mode from config file: enforcing
Policy version: 24
Policy from config file: targeted
It is not recommended to turn off SELinux. It is recommended that you should set it to permissive mode if you encounter SELinux policy issue that cannot be resolvced by other means.
To switch SELinux from "permissive" mode to "enforcing" mode, do the following:
[root@localhost ~]# setenforce 1
[root@localhost ~]# sestatus
SELinux status: enabled
SELinuxfs mount: /selinux
Current mode: permissive
Mode from config file: enforcing
Policy version: 24
Policy from config file: targeted
